Tarot, Katina and dream meanings

Here you will find the meanings of tarot cards, Katina cards and dream symbols, with spreads, zodiac signs, a glossary and step-by-step guides. Every meaning is written in the reading style of Larisa, a tarot reader and astrologer, and offers a clearer view of your situation rather than a fixed fate.

At a glance

Tarot card meanings explain a card’s central theme and how it reads in a spread; Katina meanings focus on relationships and neighbouring cards; dream meanings connect images with scenes and feelings. Start with the short answer, then follow the part that matches your question: love or work for a card, the remembered scene for a dream.

  • Reading style: Larisa, a tarot reader and karmic and esoteric astrologer who has read tarot and Katina for about four years.
  • Traditions: the Rider–Waite–Smith tradition for tarot, Katina’s own reading tradition, symbolic and psychological dream interpretation alongside traditional folk readings, and Western astrology.
  • Card images: the tarot cards come from Larisa’s own deck, the Larisa deck.
  • Reading a spread: begin with each card’s position, then compare the recurring themes and contrasts across the whole layout.

What you will find here

  • Tarot cards. All 78 cards, from the Fool to the King of Pentacles: upright and reversed; love, work, money and mood; how a card reads in a yes-or-no question, common pairings and the symbols in its image. The difficult meanings are direct: Death marks an ending and transformation; the Tower describes sudden upheaval, the collapse of an unstable structure and the realisation that the old arrangement no longer holds.
  • Katina cards. The 65-card Katina deck, loved in Turkey and Greece, read through relationships first, from symbol cards such as the Fox, the Heart and the Ring to the lady, lord and sultan cards.
  • Spreads. Tarot spreads from the single card and the three-card spread to the Celtic Cross, and Katina spreads such as Mirror of the Heart, each with the question every position asks and a worked example.
  • Dream meanings. Common symbols from teeth falling out to dreaming of someone who has died, read by what happened in the dream and how it felt, together with the traditional folk reading.
  • Zodiac signs. The 12 signs: their elements, how they love and work, their place in a birth chart and their tarot cards.
  • Glossary and guides. Terms from the Major Arcana to the rising sign, and guides that walk you through reading tarot, asking a good question and interpreting a dream.

Who is Larisa?

Larisa is a tarot reader who has worked with tarot and Katina cards for about four years, and a karmic and esoteric astrologer who reads birth charts. She met tarot through a deck in a bookshop window and learned it by following her own curiosity. She reads with the Rider–Waite deck, the Katina deck and her own deck, Larisa; she interprets dreams symbolically, psychologically and esoterically; and she works in Turkish and Russian.

In her words: “For me, the point is not to announce fate but to make visible the story working in the subconscious.” Her full story is in About Larisa.

How the cards and dreams are read here

Read a card through your question, its position and the themes that recur across the spread. Compare those themes with what is already happening: the pressure you face, the choice you are weighing and the pattern you recognise. A card’s symbols give that situation a concrete image to examine.

Read a reversed card with your question, its position and the cards around it. For a dream, place the remembered feeling beside the symbol and describe how the scene unfolded. Compare recurring dreams by recording what repeats and what changes. Read a Katina card together with its neighbours, looking at how their themes reinforce, oppose or develop one another within the layout.

Which traditions the meanings rest on, and how to read a page, is set out in our method.

The Larisa app

Birth Chart Tarot by Larisa is an Android app for your own readings. In the Larisa app you can lay out tarot spreads from a single card to the Celtic Cross and a thirteen-card year ahead, or Katina spreads such as Mirror of the Heart and the Katina Cross; you can also see your birth chart, relationship compatibility (synastry) based on two birth charts, and dream interpretations saved to your history.

The readings in the app are given by five reader characters: Selene, Mira, Daren, Liora and Orion. Each has a voice of its own, and all of them were designed within Larisa’s approach to reading: reading a card plainly, with everything it has to say.
